Billy Osman Mehmet (born 3 January 1984) is a professional footballer and the current captain of Alsancak Yeşilova SK in the KTFF Süper Lig, where he plays as a striker. Born in England, Mehmet represented England national football team at schoolboy level, and the Republic of Ireland U21 team.
Mehmet's educational background includes attending Bacon's College in Rotherhithe. He is a product of the West Ham United Academy, having been signed by the club at the age of eight. He dedicated eleven years to West Ham United before making a pivotal move to the Scottish Premier League at the age of 19, spending seven years in Scotland with Dunfermline Athletic and St Mirren.
The versatile Mehmet has showcased his skills across different leagues, including the Turkish Super Lig with Gençlerbirliği S.K. and Samsunspor. His international experience also extends to spending two years in Australia, contributing to the A-League with Perth Glory. Mehmet's football journey took him to Southeast Asia when he was acquired by the Thai Premier League side Bangkok Glass for an undisclosed fee.
In 2014, during his tenure with Kedah FA, Mehmet earned the title of top goal scorer in all competitions in the Malaysia Premier League, netting an impressive 23 goals in 26 appearances. Continuing his goal-scoring prowess, he became Sarawak FA's top goal scorer in 2015 and finished as the third-highest goal scorer in the Malaysian Super League.
