Much of the current talk surrounding the Premier League is about the title race between
Manchester City and Liverpool. However, behind those two teams, there is a race taking
place for the top four.
Arsenal are part of that, and fancied to get back into the top four after missing out on Europe
all together last season. Some would say that has played a big part in the season they are
having, allowing them to remain a fresher team than those around them, who are playing in
Europe.
The Premier League title is not going to come this season, and may not come in the near
future either, but that doesn’t mean that optimism doesn’t surround the team. Bookmaker
Marathonbet.co.uk have Arsenal priced up at 750/1 as of 17 March, to win the title this
season, showing their chances, while Manchester City are favourites at -222 to retain their
crown. Liverpool are the only challengers this season, priced at 17/10, but in the future
Arsenal will be hoping to get much closer from a betting point of view to the current top two,
and hope that translates on the pitch.
First up though, they need to get back into the top four, something they can do this season,
and then it is something they need to maintain, the top four should be their aim every season
moving forward.
Young Core Key to Arsenal’s Future
In recent years, Arsenal have increased their focus on bringing players into the first team that
had the ability to improve as they played, and push Arsenal forward. We very rarely see a
finished article come into Arsenal, and this is now starting to pay dividends.
Despite a costly mistake against Liverpool which ultimately cost Arsenal, as
Mirror.co.uk
reported, Aaron Ramsdale has finally given them a true number one goalkeeper that the team
can get behind for the next decade. Having him in goal is going to be key for their defensive
success, and at just 23-years-old, which is regarded as young for a goalkeeper, the hope is
that there is a lot more to come from him.
In an attacking sense, Arsenal excite now, and are going to be even better next season, and
beyond. Leading that group of players is Emile Smith Rowe, who was given his first England
call up in November, wrote
Arsenal.com, which is only going to help him grow as a player
over the coming years.
Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Martin Odegaard all offer something in addition to
Smith Rowe, giving Arsenal a group of four players that they can build around. There is a
small issue that the club may simply be creating too many players who are in the same
mould, but at the same time, also hope that they can learn how to work together and become
successful.
Success may still take time, but Arsenal should head to the next stage of their growth, which
means hitting the top four, and then staying there.
