In the first round of Champions League matches for the 2022/23 season, Richarlison scored an
impressive duo of headers in Spurs’ 2-0 win over Marseille. The double strike opened the
Brazilian’s account for his new club and it spelled out his potential value to the side.
His manager, Antonio Conte, has looked to use Richarlison in what seems to be an attacking
formation. Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min have also been included in recent starting line ups
but is this a situation that can continue?
Where does Richarlison fit into this Spurs team?
Richarlison has never been a prolific attacking force and Tottenham fans were not expecting
30 goals a season from their record signing.
He’s more of a link up player in a front line with the capacity to assist the main striker, while scoring some important goals of his own.
In that sense, the Brazilian international is very similar to his new teammate Son Heung-Min
who has been an established member of the Spurs squad for some time. The purchase was
interesting as Tottenham fans were keen to see how Richarlison would be used by manager
Antonio Conte.
In the initial stages, the new man was used as an impact substitute but, since scoring twice in
the win over Marseille, Richarlison has earned a starting berth alongside Son and Harry Kane.
While it seems an attacking formation, Spurs haven’t been exactly prolific in front of goal. In fact,
last season’s Golden Boot joint winner Son Heung-Min has yet to find the target in his first eight
games.
Will that return, coupled with the subdued performance against Sporting Lisbon in midweek,
force Antonio Conte into a rethink?
Tottenham Still on Target
Spurs fans are looking for their team to compete on several fronts this season. The main aim is
to win a trophy while competing in the Premier League and the Champions League. As a very
minimum, Conte will be expected to guide the team into the Top Four and retain Tottenham’s
UCL place for next term.
The betting markets are encouraging in each respect:
According to the best betting sites, as
sourced by ArabianBetting.com, Spurs are fourth favourites to finish inside that top four.
Chelsea are just ahead of them while Liverpool and Manchester City are clear at the top.

change and they will react to every set of results. As and when any new figures come in, those

In summary, it’s the ideal site for football betting in general but Spurs’ formation moving forward
is key to potential success this season.
Three Into Two Doesn’t Work
Tottenham seem to have an imbalance with Harry Kane, Richarlison and Son Heung-Min in the
same starting XI. The lack of depth in the squad also means that there is no attacking back up
on the bench.
Ideally, one of Son or Richarlison would start on that bench before being introduced as an
impact substitute later in the match. The problem with that scenario is that both are senior
players and are unlikely to be happy with such an arrangement.
For some time, Tottenham have needed an adequate back up to Harry Kane and Son Heung-
Min.
Richarlison was bought with a view to solving that situation, but his arrival may have
caused a formation headache for his new manager.
