A surprise from both managers as they went for legitimate 4-4-2 formations with very attacking wide players. We re used to seeing the top teams pack the midfield in the big games, and Ferguson typically plays Park wide for his work rate. Although all 4 strikers on both teams dropped deeper at times they mostly stayed alongside each other, which made for a very open, attacking game.
It s also worth noting that Balotelli and Silva swapped positions between the 10th and 20th minute, but then returned to their original postions.
