the outside midfielders can also track back into more of a 4-5-1 when needed. |

| 11-Jul-07 04:45 riostrioff | | | dutch 4-3-3 is an offensive formation focusing on utilizing the wingers to transport the ball.
the center midfield is dealt with congestion and disruptions instead of maintaining possession. once the ball is acquired, it s usually quickly moved to the wings and send forward...

Trying to convert a couple of players to these positions, giving them more attacking responsibility and getting involved in the game. Working extremely well, give it a try if you struggle to get younger kids to play in defence!

| 19-Nov-08 09:43 guest 196.216.47.2 | | | this is most common formation for the younger coaches (mourinho, donadoni, rijkaard etc). It is a good attacking formation which gave Chelsea premier league titles and barcelona a champions league. | | | |

| 11-Jan-09 11:55 guest 220.101.40.134 | | | This formation is traditionally preferred by a lot of Dutch coaches and teams, to the point where Ajax are expected to field a 4-3-3 every game by their fans. This was also the preferred formation by FC Barcelona in their recent golden era of 2004-06 with Messi/Giuly and Ronaldinho flanking Eto o up front. This is a more attacking option than a 4-5-1 or 4-2-3-1 (and the like), however the formation can be converted to either of those whenever defence is a priority over attack. This formation requires a traditional big man or #9 up front as a target man and to hold the ball up. The three midfielders can either be a combination of two attacking and one holding/defensive, or vice-versa. | | | |

| 09-May-09 12:13 guest 123.243.113.9 | | | a very broad formation, can be used by teams and have very different connotations, 433, 451, 4231 and 4141 are all variations on this standard formation.
Many variations with chelsea playing a more defensive game with orthodox wingers and lots of width, whilst barcelona play with wingers who are more strikers and cut in alot, the lack of width is fixed by extremly attacking fullbacks. Generally a very rounded formation with plenty of room for change. Nearly every team in the world plays a form of this or 442.

| 09-Aug-09 13:30 guest 94.65.147.254 | | | when you have the right tools (players) you can make big things with that system.. if you dont have those tools it can be catastrophic! requires 2 wingers very fast and very good with the ball on their feet able to go one-2-one with the defender.. also you need 3 midfielders with very good stamina and good passing game.
the key point of that system is the OFFENSIVE DEFENCE THAT ALL PLAYERS MUST FOLLOW.. when the ball is lost the wingers must press the defenders the midfielders must go up close to the box and defenders up close to the midfield.. that it doesn t allow the opponent to have time to think and calm the game.. and also the most important the wingers stay up and close to the box cause if they come behind the midfield and start defending there the forward of the team is going to be isolated and the wingers too far from the box.. it will end up looking more like 4-5-1 and not 4-3-3. My personal opinion only few teams in the world can play this system with succes.

| 14-Aug-09 05:42 guest 220.255.7.229 | | | I think this formation is very good for teams who have good speed, exceptional passing ability, and can retain ball possession very well. Attacking with this formation needs more passes than player runs.
If the passing game fails, it can be disastrous for the team because midfielders cannot provide enough coverage. If one midfielder goes forward and loses possession, opponents can launch lightning attack which is very devastating, because there are only 2 midfielders left.
I am not really comfortable with this formation.

| 08-Oct-09 16:40 guest 71.3.28.99 | | | The basic 4-3-3 is the ultimate attacking formation. With a strong and high defensive line it can be impossible to defend, Barcelona is a good example. The addition of a Wing Back can destroy a defense. The Wingers must be very fast and know how to control the pace. If the team is not linked together this will fall apart faster than the British Empire. | | | |

| 23-Feb-11 15:47 guest 2.96.245.174 | | | This is the ultimate attacking formation. Both wingers have to be pacy, otherwise this formation won t work. Barcelona, Arsenal and Chelsea normally use this formation. Barcelona being the most known team to use the 4-3-3 formation. | | | |

| 03-Sep-13 01:19 guest 31.109.90.254 | | | I am currently trying to coach my team to play 433 instead of our usual 442, it seems to fit my sqaud better in terms of the personel i have at my disposal, however the main problem i find is it seems be very tough to get the team out when under a lot of pressure. I feel as long as you build a strong defence first your two main priority s are your DM and your CF .
C mon the alba!

| 15-Feb-14 20:42 guest 82.145.222.62 | | | i like this formation becoz as i was looking at how to break it going forward, specially when i am playing agaist any unogarnised team in the mid it will be 2-1-3-1-3 and with quick recovering team i will be able to return to normal 4-3-3 and put one defensive player,to stay in the midfield for quick play going forward and to cover the centre of the play when defending. by young coach Ayanda 17 years | | | |

| 01-Jun-15 22:06 guest 36.252.78.77 | | | One of the most versetile attacking formation the world has & ever will see or develop.
Its not just a 4-3-3 but also 4-1-4-1, 4-1-2-3, 2-3-2-3 and also 2-1-4-3 when the time calls for it.
But what it requires are very versetile players to cover their area well and also at times make offensive and defensive runs, at least 2 most well rounded central midfielders, at least one super offensive & defensively sound fullback, two hell of a wingers & one superb all rounder striker.
Not many teams can pull the most out of this formation.
